Mitsubishi Rayon Company said today that it will delay for one year starting operations of a new carbon fiber manufacturing line at a plant in western Japan.
Now under construction within the firm’s Otake plant in Hiroshima Prefecture, the 12-billion-yen (US $125 Mil) production line will have an annual capacity of 2,700 tons. Mitsubishi Rayon’s total current annual capacity for carbon fiber is 8,150 tons, with plants in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, the United States, and Europe.
The new scheduled operation date for the line is October – December 2010.
